What is keepsake jewelry? Breastmilk jewelry is the perfect way to honor your journey through motherhood! Milk is first preserved into a powder then made into beautiful jewels that can resemble opals, pearls and other stones.
How much breastmilk does it take? Please send 15ml --- NOT OUNCES :) If you are unable to get that much, please, no less than 5ml of breastmilk. Often times you'll be able to hand express 15ml over the course of a few days/weeks even if you're breastfeeding journey has been over for a while. Spoiled, old, and otherwise considered "bad" milk is still usable... Send it on over! ***Colors of milk vary. This is the beauty of making a one of a kind piece... you never know what it'll look like until it is complete! Speckles, flecks and glitter will also vary.
How do I know if you've received my inclusions once I send it in??? You can use the Order Status tab on my page to search your order number! Each package that arrives gets put on the list in the order it came. I work from the top of the list to the bottom so you know how close your order is to being done. ORDER STATUS PAGE
Can I combine breastmilk/colostrum in one keepsake? Yes! You can combine it all together! You can use milk from different breastfeeding journeys or milk donors in a single keepsake, too!!!
How many things can I include in one keepsake? There is no limit to the amount of inclusions! Just know, the more you add, the more cluttered it may look. If you prefer a minimalistic look, keep the number of inclusions/texture/gold/opal fleck add ons to 2-3 per piece. For example, Hair, placenta, opal flecks and textured milk is a lot (visually) for 1 pendant.
Are you open to custom pieces/sizes? YESSS!!!! If you are in need of something specific, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will happily work with you!
What can be added to the jewel? Really, possibilities are just about endless. Here is a list of common things people will preserve. -Breastmilk (5-15ml needed) -Dried crushed Placenta -Dried crushed Umbilical cord -Lock of hair/fur -Ashes (human or pet) -Wedding flowers -Funeral flowers -Herbs/leaves -Honeymoon sand -Hometown soil -Fabric from something special *caution never send the last of your inclusions. I’d hate for your sentimental belongings to get lost in the mail by accident! Always keep some for back up.
Do you ship world wide/what about customs? I sure do ship world wide!!!! If by chance you get an error saying I do not ship to that region, please reach out and I will make sure to add your country to my shipping list! As for customs, you can write "jewelry supplies" on your form and there should be no problem at all.
How do I get my items to you? After placing your order, you are responsible for paying shipping (typically around $3 or 3 stamps in a standard white envelope will do) or if you are local to Salt Lake City, you can choose to do free drop off at my home. My address will be at the bottom of your order confirmation email. Email is sent immediately after order is placed- If you do not see yours please reach out to email@example.com *caution never send the last of your inclusions. I’d hate for your sentimental belongings to get lost in the mail by accident! Always keep some for back up.
**Sending breastmilk: The milk does not need to be kept cold and it can be old, non-edible milk that has been out too long or in the freezer too long. Put 15ml (not ounces) of milk in a new breastmilk storage bag, making sure it's sealed tightly, and then place that bag in another storage bag, also sealed tightly. Thirdly, place those bags in a heavy-duty or freezer Ziploc bag, also sealed tightly, and LABELED WITH YOUR FULL NAME & ORDER # 🥰
Additional inclusions: **Umbilical cord/placenta: 1 or 2 capsules of placenta is plenty. Crushed/chopped up umbilical cord/stump (Must be crushed into small pieces before sending). Send in a sealed bag with your name & order number. **Ashes: A half tablespoon is needed. Less is totally fine, we can chat about that if needed! Send in a sealed bag with your name & order number. **Hair: A THICK lock will do... two thick locks would be great though!! Put the lock in a zip lock and remove all air in it or simply put in paper then fold a few times to secure the hair inside the folds. Do not use tape on hair.
How to care for your piece and keep it white: -Must be treated as if it were your grandmother's precious jewelry. Not for every day wear. -Keepsakes are not waterproof. Remove before showers. -Prolonged & repeated exposure to direct sunlight may cause the resin to discolor & soften -Exposure to lotions, hand sanitizer, perfumes & other chemicals can cause resin to lose shine. Keepsake repair is available if needed. -Keep in mind, all resin jewelry, regardless of if it has milk in it or not could yellow if exposed to the above elements repeatedly -Gold filled jewelry can tarnish over time. Taking off before showering and bed will extend the life of the chain
Do you keep the left over milk/inclusions? Yes, if there is any left, I keep in my file for up to 2 years. This allows you to place an order using the code you'll receive with your first order if you are wanting to use the same milk in the second keepsake.
How long will it take to create my jewel? Preserving milk is a process that takes lots of love and energy. These jewels cannot be made in bulk so each one is hand preserved, one at a time. Turn around time is currently 2-2.5 months from the time your inclusions arrive. (Work load depends on how many orders arrive to me around that time.)
Refunds? Because of the nature of this item, returns are not accepted. Colors of milk vary, small air bubbles are a potential and each keepsake is one of a kind, handmade. By placing your order you agree to receiving a unique piece. If there is ever an issue with your order due to my error or quality, please contact me and I will happily assist until the issue is resolved!
Order Cancellations? Orders can be canceled within 30 days for a full refund. Past the 30 days, store credit will be issued.
